In China, the stainless steel resources are even more scarce. Every year, there is hardly any waste stainless steel that can be recycled.  Because of the long service life of stainless steel, it will not be scrapped in several years or even decades. Therefore, the amount of scrap steel recovery is less. Therefore, a large part of China's waste stainless steel recycling depends on imports.

The nickel and chromium resources used for smelting stainless steel in China are poor. In the past, the application of stainless steel in China was far less extensive than now, and the self-sufficiency rate of stainless steel production was less than 30%. Stainless steel still mainly depends on imports, and the amount of stainless steel waste produced each year is small, resulting in imbalance in some factors. The contradiction between supply and demand of stainless steel scrap and nickel, chromium and other resources is increasingly prominent. Industrial waste stainless steel

The urban landscape engineering is mainly made of stainless steel welded pipes. The automobile industry is mainly made of ferritic stainless steel 409 for automobile exhaust pipes. Other industries, such as urban water supply engineering, petrochemical and electric power industries, also produce a lot of waste stainless steel. The leftovers (new materials) cut and punched during industrial production include some tubes, rods and plates that can be used directly, and the quantity is small. Pumps and containers for oil, gas and acid are a large market for waste stainless steel tanks, pipes, pumps and valves. The main steel is 18/8 stainless steel.

Domestic waste stainless steel

Scrap stainless steel appliances used in daily life (old materials). Most of the waste stainless steel imported by China from other countries every year belongs to this category. After the stainless steel is discarded, it can only be used as furnace charge. The main steel grades of kitchen equipment and tableware are SUS304 and 430. The food processing industry mainly manufactures food processing machinery and containers, such as grain, beer and beverage, dairy processing equipment, quick-freezing refrigeration equipment, etc. The main steel types are 304, 321, 1cr13 and ferritic stainless steel.
